The Q Train - Q Class with Melbourne Transport
This return day trip from Melbourne is a great way to experience the best The Bellarine has to offer. Sail to The Q Train from Docklands and board for an award-winning lunch as you travel along the historic Bellarine Railway between Drysdale and Queenscliff.
Enjoy a unique dining journey through the Bellarine Peninsula aboard The Q Train, with return coach transfers from Melbourne included. Your day begins at Mail Exchange Hotel, where you’ll meet the Explore Australia’s iconic purple bus for a comfortable transfer out of the city.
Travel via Geelong, stopping briefly at the foreshore, before arriving at Drysdale Railway Station. Here, you’ll be warmly welcomed by name, offered a complimentary drink, and shown to your table in the beautifully restored dining carriages.
As the train departs, your first course is served, with additional dishes arriving as you travel towards Queenscliff, passing rolling farmland, Australian bushland and the tranquil waters of Swan Bay. After a short stop in Queenscliff to stretch your legs, reboard the train for the return journey to Drysdale, where your final courses are served on the way back.
On arrival at Drysdale Railway Station, the Explore Australia coach will be waiting to transfer you back to Melbourne CBD, rounding off a relaxed and memorable dining experience.

The Q Train operates at 9:30 am on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and at 10:40 am on Sundays. From April to September, the train also runs on Saturdays at 10:40 am

Terms & Conditions
- This experience is designed for adults and children aged 12 and over. Please note that we are unable to accommodate children aged 0-5. We do not offer children’s fares or menus.
- Pick-up is from 688 Bourke Street, Melbourne CBD.
- The Q Train departs from Drysdale Railway Station. It will travel to Queenscliff Railway Station, then return to Drysdale approximately 3 hours after departure.
- Alcohol and Drinks are NOT included on either the ferry or train. They can be purchased on board.
- In the unlikely event that The Q Train is late returning and we miss the return ferry, Explore Australia will return you to Docklands via bus.
- Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your departure time. Failure to arrive before this time will result in forfeiture of the booking and no refund will be given.
- Dress code is Smart Casual. Thongs, active wear, and singlets are not permitted. Failure to adhere to the dress code may result in forfeiture of the booking and no refund will be given.
- The Q Train proudly caters to vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free diets. However, these requests must be received prior to travel. If there are no dietary requests made prior to travel, guests will be served the standard degustation menu.
- Strictly no BYO food or drink.
- Both of the Q Class dining cars provide fixed table seating for groups of two or four, and we have two tables that seat six on the Q Class Dining Car. Due to structure and space restrictions, there is no provision for moving tables and there is limited fixed space between the front of the table and the back of the chair.
- We regret that our wine-matching option is not available in Q Class due to the space and storage limitations on the train.
- We cannot allow inebriated customers on board. If you or members of your dining party arrive already under the influence of alcohol, our Train Manager reserves the right to cancel your booking.
- *Cancellation Policy: Free cancellations for bookings cancelled with the operator before 24 hours of your chosen activity date. No refund if bookings are cancelled 24 hours or less prior to travel or in the event of a no-show.
