Classic Kuranda from Cairns
Travel deep into the rainforest on one of Cairns’ most iconic day tours. Ride the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway, explore rainforest wildlife and culture, and soar above the canopy on Skyrail — all in one unforgettable day.
Experience one of Far North Queensland’s most iconic day tours on the Classic Kuranda Tour from Cairns. Your day begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up and transfer to Freshwater Railway Station, where your adventure starts.
Board the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway and wind your way through 15 hand-cut tunnels, passing dramatic waterfalls and lush rainforest scenery on the journey to the charming village of Kuranda. Once there, enjoy free time to explore the village at your own pace or visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary (optional, at own expense).
Next, travel to Rainforestation Nature Park for a full afternoon of unforgettable experiences. Enjoy a tasty Aussie BBQ buffet lunch, then hop aboard an Army Duck rainforest tour, travelling on both land and water as your guide shares insights into the local flora and fauna.
Discover Aboriginal culture during the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, featuring traditional dance performances and a hands-on Dreamtime Walk, where you’ll learn boomerang throwing, spear techniques and didgeridoo playing. Then explore the Koala & Wildlife Park, home to kangaroos, wallabies, crocodiles, wombats, snakes, dingoes, and a cassowary. Photo opportunities with a koala or small crocodile are available (at own expense).
To finish the day, glide above the rainforest canopy on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, stopping at Red Peak Station and Barron Falls Station before arriving at the Smithfield Terminal. The tour concludes at around 5:00 pm, with hotel drop-offs commencing shortly after.
