Blenheim Palace
Blenheim Palace, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds historical significance as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Nestled within an expansive 2,000-acre estate, meticulously designed by the renowned 'Capability' Brown, this magnificent 18th-century Baroque Palace is encompassed by vast lawns, meticulously manicured gardens, and a stunning lake.
With a rich 300-year history, Blenheim Palace showcases exceptional English baroque architecture that harmoniously complements detailed carvings, hand-painted ceilings, and impressive collections of porcelain, tapestries, and paintings.
Delve into the life and work of the ‘Greatest Briton’, Sir Winston Churchill. This permanent exhibition showcases a variety of photographs, letters, historic artefacts and excerpts from his most famous speeches.
This immersive and interactive experience takes you on a journey through the Palace’s historic stable block. Learn about the importance of horses, see the original tack room and recreated stable room as well as a life-size model of Churchill’s childhood pony Rob Roy.
Explore the family-friendly Walled Garden, home to the Butterfly House and Marlborough Maze. Open since the early 1980s, the Butterfly House is full of a wide variety of butterfly species from countries including Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. Or why not try to find your way out of the magnificent Marlborough Maze. Two miles in length, the maze design is inspired by the Palace and made up of hundreds of yew trees.
Surrounding the Palace, the Formal Gardens will take you on a journey through the ages of style. Discover the Water Terraces, the Duke’s Private Italian Garden, the Secret Garden, the Churchill Memorial Garden and the Rose Garden.
4 July (Saturday), The Palace will close to general visitors from 3:00 PM. In addition, some disruption in the Great Court is expected until 7 July 2026.
3 August (Monday) – 6 August (Thursday): The Palace, Park and Gardens will be closed to the public from 3 August to 5 August 2026 due to a large private event on the Estate. During this period, the Palace, Formal Gardens, The Shop, The Pantry, The Orangery, and Stables Café will not be accessible.
The Palace will reopen on Thursday, 6 August, during normal opening hours. Please note that some disruption may still be expected on that date.
