Wine, Cheese and Olive Oil Tasting in Florence
Foodies are sure to love this relaxing late-afternoon tasting session in a traditional Florence wine and food shop that explores specially selected wines and traditional flavours of the Tuscan countryside.
This one hour wine-tasting tour takes place in an authentic, traditional Enoteca located in the heart of Florence and is led by an expert sommelier who will show you different tasting techniques and how to differentiate the ingredients in the wines you taste.
You will be given a brief introduction to the history of wine and in particular the world famous Chianti wine which is produced in Florence before learning how each is made and the correct glasses that should be used when serving.
Try three different wines with a luscious spread of locally sourced produce.
What's more, enjoy some of the many delicious tastes of the Tuscany region: have you ever put some jam on the cheese? Tuscans like to match the sweetness of the jam with the taste of the cheese, that could be pecorino (sheep) or caprino (goat) or parmigiano (from cow milk).
And don't forget about the oft-overlooked extra virgin olive oil. The olive tree's roots are inextricably entwined with the culinary history of the region and this fascinating tasting experience is a voyage of discovery through the palette of Tuscan olive oils.
