Wat Doi Suthep Temple and White Meo Hilltribe Village

Experience the beauty of northern Thailand’s mountains on this half-day tour of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple and White Meo Hilltribe Village from Chiang Mai.

Take in the natural landscapes as you relax on a scenic drive through the winding roads that lead to Doi Suthep Peak and pay a visit to the Meo hilltribe, where you’ll learn about their traditional way of life. The Meo hilltribe originated in South China and usually live on mountains peaks or plateaus above 3000 feet. You’ll discover breathtaking scenery and an unspoiled rural life on this informative and memorable journey.

This is followed by a visit to the most sacred temple in the north, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, containing a holy relic of Lord Buddha. The 600-year-old Temple of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep can be found near the peak of Doi Suthep. After a drive up the mountains winding road, the final climb to the site is via an enormous mythological Nagas (Dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps. Inside the cloister is an intriguing copper-plated chedi topped by a five-tier gold parasol which contains partial relics of Lord Buddha. On a clear day, there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai from the temple grounds. On a clear day the panoramic views of the city from the temple ground are truly spectacular!
