This popular and multi-award winning tour departs daily from Dunedin in the afternoon to visit the beautiful Otago Peninsula and its wildlife 'hotspots'.

Travel the length and breadth of the Otago Peninsula: one of the world's few untouched areas, with amazing wildlife and spectacular scenery.

This wildlife trek enables close, secluded viewing of the unique and world-renowned wildlife living on the Peninsula. In addition to the 25-30 species of marine and wading birds, the main 'stars' you will see include the Royal Albatross, Hookers Sealions, Blue Penguins, New Zealand Fur Seals and Yellow Eyed Penguins.

Tour concludes approximately 6 hours after commencement, at which time accommodation drop offs will commence.

  • As this tour duration is approximately six hours, the tour does not suit all children. Children under five years are free of charge and require parent to provide carry pack for walks (tour not suitable for pushchairs/strollers etc)
  • All tours require a basic fitness, as some walking is required. The Peninsula Encounters tours involve periods of coastal hillside walking, some of which is steep, to gain access to private conservation areas.
