Skip the line Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museums Skip the Line ticket gets you past long lines at the Vatican Museums, so you spend more time exploring the world’s most incredible art collection and less time waiting outside.

The ticket can be used any time from 9.00am to 3.00pm. Visit all the highlights of the Vatican Museums – from the Sistine Chapel to lesser-known gems of the collection. You will see the Hall of Maps, the Pinecone Courtyard, the Gallery of Tapestries, the Gallery of Candelabra and the incredible Raphael Rooms.

The undouted highlight is a visit to the Sistine Chapel. Take some time inside this world-famous room to pick out the details you heard about – Michelangelo’s boneless self-portrait for example, in which he expresses to the world that he would rather be skinned alive than paint the Sistine Chapel again.

Daily; The Vatican Museum and Gardens are closed on Sundays and all Religious holidays.

You can board the bus at any one of the 9 stops around the city or any of the City Sightseeing shops.

Start times

The first bus departs from Via Marsala at 9.00am. Buses run every 20 minutes until 5.00pm from October - March and 7.30pm April - September. The Vatican Museum ticket can be used any time from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

Terms & Conditions

  • You will be issued with an open-dated ticket voucher which can be redeemed at anytime on your visit to Rome. This can be exchanged at one the CitySightseeing Visitor Centres (addresses listed on the voucher) or when boarding the City Sightseeing Bus for the first time. We recommend exchanging your voucher at a Visitor Centre so they agent can take you through how the ticket works and answer any questions you may have.
  • Upon redemption you will receive your 24 or 48 hour Hop-on Hop-off Bus ticket and skip-the-line Vatican Museum ticket.
  • Once your voucher has been exchanged, your Hop-on, Hop-off pass validity begins from that point.
  • The skip-the-line Vatican Museum tickets can only be used on any date between 9.00am and 3.00pm. It does not have to be used within the 48 hour bus ticket validity.
  • The skip-the-line Vatican Museum ticket enables you to bypass the main ticket purchase line. However, you may still have to queue to get into the Vatican Museums at busy times, but your queuing time will be significantly reduced.
  • Entrance into the Vatican is subject to a strict dress code. Shoulders and knees must be covered. No low-cut or sleeveless tops or shorts will be not permitted for men and women. Clients that do not adhere to the dress code will not be permitted to enter the Vatican.
  • Large handbags and rucksacks are not permitted inside the Vatican Museums. We recommend not taking a large bag on your visit to the Vatican.
  • Certain stops and sections of the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour may occasionally be subject to last minute changes and closures.
