Private Ho Chi Minh City and Cu Chi Tour

This private excursion offers the best of both worlds with a morning spent exploring the famous Cu Chi Tunnels and an afternoon ticking off a selection of Ho Chi Minh's highlights.

Your private tour begins with a collection from your hotel followed by a drive through the Vietnamese countryside, which was once a stronghold of the Viet Cong, before arriving at the Cu Chi Tunnels zone.

First stop Cu Chi Tunnels - This is where guerilla warfare is exemplified and you will learn about the clever design of the tunnels and the strategic use of trap doors. Even with B-52 bombers dropping 30-ton loads of explosive, turning the jungle into a pockmarked moonscape, 30 thousand American troops failed to conquered the area!

You will be offered the opportunity to crawl around a portion of the 121 km long, multiple-layered tunnel and learn how thousands of guerillas managed to stay underground for many days at a time, also their great technique to conceal smoke from their cooking. There’re a lot more to enjoy and even a chance to fire with real weapons like AK47 for an additional fee (paid locally). After the tour is back to HCMC for a well-earned traditional Vietnamese lunch prior to starting the afternoon section of the tour.

Head to the Reunification Hall to visit the residence of the President Ngo Dinh Diem of the former South Vietnam until 1975 (1960s - Apr 1975s). Here, you will have the opportunity to view formal meeting rooms, private bedrooms and war situation rooms 10 meter beneath earth’s level. This address today still holds many important functions in HCMC. You will learn important historical facts about this building.

Next, visit the War Remnants Museum. Here, you will see exhibits relating to the Vietnam War and the first Indochina War involving the French colonialists.

Other colonial structures included in the tour are Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, it is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam currently being renovated we can only view from the outside, and the General Post Office, constructed when Vietnam was part ofFrench Indochinain the late 19th century

Finally, the tour ends at the famous Ben Thanh market, where you may practice your bargaining skills and pick up some souvenirs before being returned to your hotel.
