Folkloric Ballet in Mexico City

Experience the folk dances and traditional costumes of this vibrant Mexican fiesta at the famous Palace of Fine Arts - a masterpiece of its own. The Mexican Folklore Ballet takes you to each unique region of the country and showcases Mexico of yesterday and today.

For approximately sixty years the Ballet Folklorico of Mexico, founded by artistic director Amalia Hernandez, has performed more than 15,000 shows to 22 million people worldwide.

The folk dance company preserves Mexicos traditional arts by filming dances, recording music and photographing costumes from regions throughout Mexico, and presents these forms on stage.

Your musical journey will take you through each unique region of the country from past to present. From the ruins of the country's natives come screams, songs, silence, weeping, and laughter.

As you listen to the music and watch each choreographed dance, learn about the folk traditions from various populations in Mexico from the Mayan Empire of the Yucatan Peninsula to the cowboy cultures of Spanish-colonized Jalisco. Experience all the vivacity of a colourful Mexican fiesta in this unique celebration!
