Best of Hanoi - Private Tour

A great introduction to beautiful Hanoi, this private city tour covers the leading sites and immerses you in Vietnamese history and culture. See the Ho Chi Minh Complex, the Temple of Literature, National Museum of Vietnam before ending your day with a relaxing cyclo tour through the Old Quarter.

An 8:00am meet up at your hotel in Hanoi starts this wonderful morning of exploration. First, you will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum* and Museum to explore the architectural and historical aspects of Uncle Ho’s final resting place. Next door to here is the One Pillar Pagoda (Mot Cot) which was founded by King Ly Thai To in 1049. According to legend, the pagoda’s shape was inspired by the lotus flower and this structure has become an important symbol for the people of Hanoi.

The tour continues with a visit to the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam. Being Vietnam’s first university, the place was initially constructed in 1070, their gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam’s past. Then, continue past The Opera House to the wonderful Hoan Kiem Lake and walk across the famous red wooden bridge to visit Ngoc Son Temple set on a tiny island. This is the perfect opportunity for a memorable photograph before a traditional Vietnamese lunch of Pho (pronounced FUR!) a noodle meat/vegetarian broth.

Start the afternoon with a visit to the National Museum of Vietnam History tracing the history of Vietnamese people from the earliest times to the present day. It’s a wonderful museum and enhanced by a private guide to give further details on the exhibits.

Next, stop around Ham Tu Quan for an enjoyable one-hour cyclo ride through the 36 streets of the Old Quarter. Although the old section of Hanoi is often called the "36 Old Streets," there are more than 36 actual streets. Some researchers believe that the number 36 came from the 15th century when there might have been 36 guild locations, which were workshop areas, not streets.

After a little light shopping & possibly an ‘Egg Coffee’ (ask your guide!), you will then be transferred back to your hotel to enjoy the evening.
