Overview
Seven Treasure Town is a quaint, ancient village just outside of Shanghai. It is a town known for its yarn, rice wine, carpentry and cloth from during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Not only were these materials infamous in Shanghai, they were cherished around the world and to this day there are textiles from the Ming and Qing Dynasties at the Great Museum of London. At this lovely village you will also see a beautiful and distinctive wedding hall which is inside a textile mill, a visit to a shop that produces rice wine, including other fantastic sights and skills including a blacksmiths, bamboo craft and carpentry. Then you will head to an idyllic water town called Zhujiajiao, also known as the ‘Pearl Stream’ as it shines like a pearl on the Dianpu River. This is a striking town with its preserved architecture and bridges from the Ming and Qing dynasties and whilst you wonder along the narrow streets you will see the locals chatting, playing cards with neighbours and getting on with their daily tasks. During this tour, you will also rest on a leisurely boat ride, experience the local foods or you can just stop and unwind whilst under grand willow trees.
