Your morning starts with a short bike ride to the train station, where you will jump aboard the RER for the quick 20-minute train journey to the Palace of Versailles, one of the most spectacular royal residences in the whole of Europe.
On arrival at Versailles, first head to the village market where you can buy baguettes, cheese, ham, wine or whatever you desire for a picnic lunch in the Chateau's gardens. The undoubted highlight of the tour is the chance to explore the tree-lined gardens by bike. These world-famous gardens are worth the trip to Versailles alone and most visitors enjoy them more than the Chateau itself. See Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon, the Grand Trianon and the quiet Hameau. The far end of the Grand Canal can only be reached by bike, so you will able to sit in peace and enjoy your picnic lunch on the same spot where Kings Louis XIV, XV and XVI ate in order to marvel at their house. After lunch pedal back through the gardens back towards the Chateau and the chance to explore the building’s interior. Visit the Hall of Mirrors where the Versailles Treaty was signed, ending the First World War, the King's State Apartments and the amazing King's Chapel.
