On this action packed full day tour you will encounter some of New Zealand’s most amazing scenery from the carriages of the world famous Tranz Alpine train and get your blood pumping on a high speed jet boat ride. 

Leaving Christchurch you will travel by road through the fields and farmlands of the Canterbury Plains to Springfield set in the foothills of the Southern Alps.  From here you will board the Tranz Alpine train and pass through spectacular scenery as the train travels through the mountains into Arthurs Pass National Park. 

 

From Arthurs Pass you will travel by road through the impressive snow capped peaks to the historic railway settlement of Otira, where you will have the opportunity to photograph and marvel at the rugged Otira Gorge and Viaduct.  Once back at Arthurs Pass, it's time for a hearty kiwi lunch at The Chalet Restaurant following which you are free to explore the village and wander through some of the many nearby native bush walks with your friendly guide. 

 

You will then be back on the road to Christchurch, winding through the National Park where the highlight for many is the chance to get the adrenaline pumping with an amazing jet boat ride through the gorges of the Waimakariri River.  Once off the river the final stop is at a fully operational sheep farm where you will be served afternoon tea and given the chance to watch a sheep shearing and sheep mustering demonstration (by the farmer himself!)
