In Arabic Jebel Akhdar means green mountains and this area is unsurprisingly famous for its gardens and farms. Your 4WD tour takes you through this remote area offering wonderful views of the dramatic landscape and an insight into the local way of life. Visit Wadi Habib to see one of the remote mountain villages and fruit plantations where the cherry blossom, peach flowers, pomegranate and saffron create an amazing palette of colour and scent throughout the year. The area is also famed for its abundance of roses which are used for rose water and perfumes and there is a chance to visit to a private terrace rose plantation.
In the afternoon, descend through the mountains to Nizwa, the historical and cultural capital of Oman where you can visit the local souk, famous for pottery goods and gold and silver jewellery. Also visit the impressive Round Tower Fort that proudly overlooks the city.
