Your tour takes you to the shores of Lake Tasman for a cruise over its cloudy waters to the icy terminal wall of the Tasman Glacier.  Stretching for 27km, the Tasman Glacier is New Zealand’s longest glacier, and this tour gives you a unique opportunity to visit its immense terminal wall which is retreating back up the valley at a rate of 30m a year.  Watch as the glacier slowly melts before your eyes and icebergs of all shapes and sizes break off the 600m deep river of ice.  Hear the sounds of this ancient glacier as it drips into the lake and cracks and creaks as the ice shifts above you.

Your expert guide will manoeuvre your boat to a safe distance from the towering ice face so that you can appreciate its enormity, then negotiate the icebergs that dot the lake so that you can touch and even taste the 500 year old ice.  This eerie and fascinating geological phenomenon is a must see and provides both a serene and educational experience for all.
