Suzhou dates from around 600 BC and is one of the oldest towns in the Yangtze basin. With its interconnected waterways and beautiful environment, the city is often referred to as ‘The Venice of the East’ and it is also renowned for its beautiful and mesmerising gardens, with water features, various plants and a feeling of relaxation. Visit the Net Master Garden, the best and most celebrated as a model Ming Dynasty Garden in all of Suzhou and also see the ancient city wall, which divides the city into the inner part and the outer part, where you will see stunning and panoramic views. Afterwards you head to the Grand Canal which measures a staggering 1,114 miles long before visiting a silk spinning factory, showing the methods they have used since the 14th century.
After a spot of lunch, you will head to the water town of Zhouzhuang, known for its stunning surroundings and simple buildings. The majority of the town’s residences were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and nearly 100 classic courtyards and 60 carved-brick archways are still in use. In this water village, locals live life on waterways, still doing everyday activities from washing clothes to shopping from vendors in boats. Here you board a Chinese-style gondola to coast the waterways of the town. You can add your own review for this experience
