This tour will introduce you to many different monuments and historical sights of Rome including the Republic Square which was designed bye Gaetano Kock, Piazza Venezia, and Piazza del Popolo the Northern entrance to Ancient Rome where you will glimpse an Egyptian obelisk dating back to the time of Ramses II. Then cross the Tiber River where you will see the Victor Emannuel II Bridge and and Elio´s bridge which dates back to 134 A.D.
Afterwards, you will be taken inside the amazing Castel S Angelo, an enormous fortress built in 139AD as a tomb for Emperor Hadrian on the site where Pope Gregory the Great had a vision of the Archangel Michael. Since that time the fortress has had many roles such as Emperor Aurelian’s city wall, a citadel, a prison and a papal residence during times of unrest.
Your tour concludes with the undoubted highlight of the morning, a Papal Blessing with Pope Benedict XVI in St Peter’s Square.
