No trip to Mauritius would be complete without visiting the spectacular Pamplemousses Gardens. Officially listed in the top ten botanical gardens in the world, this wonderful garden boasts a magnificent collection of indigenous and exotic plants. See giant Amazon Lilies, a huge baobab tree and famous Talipot plants that are said to bloom every 100 years. After strolling through the gardens, head to the L'Aventure du Sucre housed in the old sugar factory of Beau Plan. This fascinating interactive museum takes you back in time and highlights the extent to which the history of Mauritius is so strongly linked to the sugar industry. Lunch is served at ‘Le Fangourin’ restaurant within the museum on site and in the afternoon, visit the Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis, with its craft market and great selection of clothing boutiques.
