Overview

Many of Iceland’s glacial rivers run into the Atlantic Ocean on the country’s southern coast and have carved out some stunning scenery that will blow you away. Along the way to the coast you will pass charming villages such as Selfoss and Vik, Skogarfoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, and Skaftafell National Park which is home to Öræfajökull, an ice covered volcano and the largest active one in the country.

You will then reach Jökulsárlón Lagoon, an area of stunning beauty and famous for appearing in Bond movies ‘Die Another Day’ and ‘A View to Kill.’ Jökulsárlón only started to form in the 1920’s and is actually getting bigger every year – between 1975 and the present it has more than doubled in size! You will have time to wander around and absorb the scenery before taking to the water for a cruise in an amphibious vehicle – boats that are also able to drive short distances on land. Nearby is Europe’s biggest glacier Vatnajökull, and you will see massive blocks of ice that have broken away from the main glacier, some covered in volcanic ash, slowly sailing towards the ocean.
