Overview

Your day starts with a visit to Haw Par Villa for a fascinating insight into Chinese mythology characters, legends and folklore. From here continue north to the Kranji War Memorial, unveiled in 1957. The memorial is dedicated to the 20,00 men and women from the allied forces who died defending Singapore and Malaya against the invading Japanese forces during the Second World War comprises the War Graves, the Memorial Walls, the State Cemetery, and the Military Graves.

Lunch at a local restaurant is followed by a trip to the Bright Hill Temple, renowned for its Chinese crematorium and well stocked turtle pond. Your tour then continues to Johore Battery where you can view a replica of the 15-inch ‘Monster Gun’ the largest to be installed outside Britain during World War II. Unfortunately, it was only equipped with ammunition to counter armoured ships and was ineffective against land troops and field artillery. The tour concludes with a visit to the Changi Chapel & Museum. The museum focuses on the memories and lives of both POWs and civilians who survived Japanese occupation. The Changi Chapel is a symbolic replica of the original chapel found in the Changi Prison which held allied POWs, but does contain an authentic collection of paintings and sketches donated by former inmates.
