Overview
Semengoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre looks after orang utans that have been rescued from captivity and teaches them to survive in the surrounding forest reserve. This is the best place in Sarawak to view these majestic creatures and although they are only semi-wild, they spend most of their time in the rain forest, often only returning to the centre at feeding time. There is also the opportunity to see the heart-warming sight of mother and baby due to the successful breeding programme that Semenggok provides. There are a number of short jungle trails and optional forest walks at the rehabilitation centre that can be also be incorporated into the tour if you wish to get a better idea of the orang utan’s natural habitat.
