Witness two of Bavaria’s jewels on this day trip – Ludwig II’s impressive Linderhof Castle and the town of Oberammergau, famous for the Passion Play and its long tradition of wood carving.- English speaking guide
- Transport on air-conditioned coach
First stop on your day tour is the smallest of three royal castles built by King Ludwig II during the 19th century. Linderhof was built as a hunting lodge in French Rococo style and the castle has a fantastic grotto and Moorish pavilion which can be visited during your two hour stay.
You will then travel to Oberammergau, world-famous for its tradition of woodcarvers and richly painted houses (Luftl-paintings). It is also home of the famous Passion Play, first performed after the Thirty Years War. The people of Oberammergau swore an oath to perform the "Play of the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ" every ten years and this tradition has been preserved since then, with the next Passion Play to be performed in 2010.
