Whilst not as comprehensive as the renowned Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in Cairo, the Luxor Museum is well worth a visit and houses some historically significant relics from the Valley of the Kings and the East Bank including the funerary boats of Tuthankhamun and a collection of statues found in the Luxor Cachette. These beautifully preserved sculptures lay undiscovered beneath Luxor Temple for over 2000 years before being unearthed in 1989. As you explore the museum with your expert guide, you will see sculptures of Tutmose III and Senosert III of the twelfth dynasty and the alabaster statue of the crocodile-headed god, Sobek. One of the most impressive exhibits is the wall re-created from 283 blocks of limestone taken from the ninth pylon of Karnak Temple.
