After an early morning departure from Chiang Rai, head to Phu Chi Fa. The highest plateau on a mountain-top, Phu Chi Fa rises high above the valley and offers spectacular vistas of the surrounding mountain peaks, valleys and the vast, grassy plains that extend across the Laotian border. It is widely regarded as the best spot to enjoy the sunrise in Chiang Rai and on most days you can see the sun rise above the mountain mist. Breakfast is served in this magical location before the tour continues to the close by Thai-Laos border village. Here you will find lots of traditional handmade products in the local market. Cotton and silk are particularly good buys. The tour also visits the Pha Mon Highland Agricultural Royal Project to see the stunning flower gardens and orchid nurseries.
Lunch is taken at a local fresh water prawn farm in Thoeng district where you can enjoy Thailand’s most famous soup 'Tom Yum Kung' and other prawn dishes of your choice. The highlight of the return journey back to Chang Rai is a visit to Phu Sang waterfall. Few visitors make it to this twenty-five metre high waterfall which is best known for the 35°C water which flows over the rocks. The water originates from many natural hot springs which flow down the hill to form the waterfall.
