As you journey towards the Vatican City, enjoy views of some of the fantastic Roman sights including the Piazza della Republica with its Naiad Fountain, the Piazza Barberini where you will see the Baroque Tritone Fountain, the ancient Aurelian Walls and the famous Villa Borghese gardens. Travelling down the Via Veneto, pass through the Piazza del Popolo- the Northern entrance to Ancient Rome where you will glimpse an Egyptian obelisk dating back to the time of Ramses II. Entrance to the Vatican requires appropriate attire. No shorts, miniskirts or uncovered shoulders. A comfortable pair of shoes are recommended.
The audience normally takes place in either St Peter's Square, but can also be staged at St Peter's Basilica or the Audience Hall, depending on seasonal conditions and the number of pilgrims visiting on each particular day.
