Depart from Alice Springs and journey through the scenic West MacDonnell Ranges where you will enjoy stunning views of the chasms and gorges that have been sculptured over time by the climatic elements. Continue to the Aboriginal community of Hermannsburg, renowned for its Aboriginal art collection and the works of Albert Namatjira where you can enjoy morning tea and a guided tour of the town and gallery. From here you head off-road on an adventurous ride to Palm Valley, down the bed of the Finke River - believed to be one of the oldest watercourses in the world.
After a scenic picnic lunch in the heart of Palm Valley, you will have plenty of time to explore the strange rock formations and ancient palm groves of this unique area. Highlights include the Amphitheatre rock formation and the beautiful cabbage palms, botanic remnants from millions of years ago, when central Australia was lush with tropical forests. As you return to Alice Springs, enjoy the Red Centre scenery as it changes colour in the late afternoon sunlight.
