Skip-the-line entrance to St Mark’s Basilica
The Original Venice Walking tour offers the perfect introduction to this amazing city and takes you to the major landmarks and hidden gems. The first part of the tour focuses on the city’s renowned historic attractions around St Mark’s Square including skip-the-line entrance to St Mark’s Basilica so there is no waiting in queues. Hear about its Byzantine heritage and also see the Doge's Palace and its adjoining prisons that retain the true secrets of how a city built on swamps became one of the most enlightened cities in Europe.
Afterwards, this charming tour leaves the crowds behind as you enjoy a leisurely stroll along the atmospheric narrow passageways, along meandering canals and over the delightful bridges. Your guide will help to bring the history of Venice to life and discover fine gothic palaces and colourful squares such as Campo Santa Maria Formosa. You'll see Marco Polo's house and be entertained by tales of this legendary globe-trotting Venetian and also learn about the trade schools of Venice that provided the foundations of the Venetian mercantile empire at Scuola di San Marco. The tour concludes at the world famous Rialto Bridge.
