Discover Hong Kong's rural beauty away from the bustling streets, neon lights and the skyscrapers. 'The The Land Between' is the land bridging the motherland in China and the city centre of Hong Kong . The New Territories is an enormously diverse suburban area full of contrasts to the cosmopolitan city centre. The area is a blend traditional customs and modern ideas, of scenic beauty and man-made achievements.

Your first stop is the Yuem Yuen Institute, which demonstrates the significance of contributions from Confucian, Taoist and Buddhist to the local society. Then it's out into the countryside, past banana plantations and up the tallest mountain in Hong Kong, Tai Mo Shan for a panoramic view of Hong Kong Island and across the border to Shenzhen in mainland China. Over the mountain lies a lush valley of orchards and vegetable farms.

Afterwards, head down Tai Mo Shan, stopping at the old Fanling Walled Village belonging to a big family clan in the New Territories. Walk past the old village wall with gun holes in it, and a family ancestral hall where ancestor worship continues to be practised. Then head to Luk Keng Road, running parallel with the coastline of Mainland China. Enjoy views across the bay to mainland China and the small town of Sha Tan Kok. Also see a bird sanctuary where Chinese pond herons and night-herons nest.

Next, it's a trip through the Plover Cove Country park, and on to the fishing village of Sam Mun Tsai to see how local fisherfolk breed fish in submerged cages. The tour concludes with a visit to Bride's Pool Falls before returning to Hong Kong.
