This is a truely awesome experience, though not for the faint hearted. Whilst Sinai is a fairly easy climb as mountains go it is a night time hike so the body is slightly less willing! When they suggest warm clothes they mean it. In the middle of the Sinai desert at 2am it is freezing cold. Take some small change in order to purchase at least one hot chocolate (20 egyptian pounds each) and to pay for the toilet (5 egyptian pounds). The toilet experience is better on the mountain than in the monestry though!!

Watching the sunrise was amazing (even my long suffering flatmate who had complained about the idea of mountaineering at 3am said she was glad I had dragged her along). Just as wonderful though were the stars as you climb the mountain you can see thousands of them. Lovely.
