Your day starts in Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt. The site is like a giant open-air museum and here you will discover a colossal limestone statue of King Ramses II and the famous Alabaster Sphinx, carved from a single piece of alabaster and said to weigh over eighty tons. View the Temple of Ptah, built by Seti I and the site where pharaohs were crowned and then continue to the Saqqara, the largest necropolis in Egypt. Your expert guide will bring to life the burial chambers of the nobility and explain why the ancient Egyptians started to bury the dead in stone pyramids.
