Matang Wildlife Centre is part of Kubah National Park and is only 40 minutes away from Kuching. Matang is Sarawak’s main centre for animal rehabilitation and therefore is home to a wide variety of animals.
Some of the species that are being rehabilitated here include orang utan, sun bears, bear cats, civet cats, sambar deer, barking deer, porcupines and crocodiles as well as a large variety of birds such as hornbills, brahminy kites and sea eagles. All of these animals can be viewed in spacious natural enclosures and large aviary houses.
After lunch there is a guided trek to Kubah Park headquarters passing beautiful and spectacular scenery as guests pass magnificent jungle waterfalls and view fascinating plant species including rare plants, orchids and pitcher plants.
