A short journey from Penang Bridge brings you to Kuala Sepetang where you will discover Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve, the oldest mangrove forest in Malaysia which covers more than 40,000 hectares. Here you can stroll along a 800 metre-long boardwalk into the heart of the Mangrove Forest to view the flora and fauna including a wealth of migratory birds and mud crabs. The Matang Mangrove Forest Reserve is one of the best managed tract of mangrove forest in the world and after viewing the forest, head to the nearby charcoal factory to witness the fascinating process of transforming mangrove wood into charcoal.

After lunch journey by boat to a small island for the undoubted highlight of the trip. Here you enjoy plenty of free time to view a large family of orang utans who roam freely in this natural habitat. The island is used as a rehabilitation and preservation facility with the aim of developing and promoting orang utan conservation.

Your tour concludes with a visit to Taiping Lake Gardens. Dating from 1880 this is one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in the country and plays host to a variety of plants, flowers, trees, birds and a dazzling variety of insects.
