Discover French wines right where the French do it themselves. Start your tour at Le Mauzac, known for their natural whites. Here you can enjoy two wines from the Loire Valley – a white wine and a rosé. The tour then takes you past the Church of Sainte Genevieve, built 1492-1626 and dedicated to the patron saint of Paris as you head for a small local wine bar which looks like an old Parisian bistro with tiled floor, wooden chairs and old black and white photos on the wall. After another wine tasting the tour continues past the Pantheon - a massive temple commissioned in 1744 by Louis XV and built by the architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot. It was originally a church, but under the revolution it became a burial place for the honored men of France. It houses the bodies of Voltaire, Rousseau, Mirabeau, Marat, Victor Hugo and Emile Zola.
Move on to picturesque rue Mouffetard with its history, myth and mystique. Rue Mouffetard is one of the oldest streets in Paris and the street retains a village atmosphere, with a famous picturesque open market held on the lower part. Here you will visit ‘Le Verre à Pied’ to taste another wine. Used for a scene in the movie ‘Amelie’, the bar has a warm atmosphere and looks unchanged from earlier times. The tour then takes you to the Saint Medard, a church which offers a peaceful pause . The original church was founded in 1140, as a subsidiary to the Sainte-Genevieve Church. Your last stop for a tasting is very near Saint-Medard church.
