When the Hoover Dam was constructed to harness the power of the Colorado River in 1935, Lake Mead was also created and it remains the largest man-made lake in the USA. The deep blue water contrasts dramatically with the burnt desert landscape and the pristine waters are perfect for a relaxing cruise. On arrival at Lake Mead, board the Desert Princess, a Mississippi-style paddlewheeler and enjoy a 90-minute cruise to enjoy the full beauty and majesty of the area including Arizona Paint Pots, Boulder Island, Colorado River and the surrounding volcanic rock of extinct volcanoes. Enjoy light lunch on board the Desert Princess as you cruise along Lake Mead and after the cruise, continue to the Hoover Dam. 

Standing more than 700 feet high, the Hoover Dam is an amazing feat of modern engineering and today it provides much of the electricity for California, Colorado and Nevada. You have around 1.5 hours to explore this fantastic site at your own pace including the Exhibit Hall, Visitor's Center, the indoor and outdoor observation decks, a 25 minute movie of the dam's original construction and a trip to the generator room via one of the dam's elevators.
