Scene of many a Hollywood epic including Laurence of Arabia, it’s not hard to see why movie producers have fallen in love with the grandeur of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. The thick, high, sheer elaborately decorated pise walls, stepped-up housing, turreted, crenallated ramparts, balustrades and arched babs are a sight not to be missed.  It is certainly one of the most spectacular sights in the Atlas ranges sat upon jutting rock and commanding the area for miles around – it once controlled the route to Marrakech until the French arrived.  Explore this amazing setting by foot before commencing on a 3-hour trek through the impressive ever-changing countryside of the Tamdaght Valley to the ancient Kasbah of the Glaoui at Tamdaght; sat within a lush valley, the panorama is quite something.  After a picnic in glorious surrounds, the hike continues for a further 2 hours through palmeraies and rugged outcrops with the occasional screeching Eagle overhead, back to the vehicle.

The hike is generally easy grade on on paths at lower levels, which are sometimes rocky. The tour is suitable for anyone in reasonable health.
