The Barb horses will be waiting you at the Kasbah Tamadot, owned by Richard Branson as soon as the horses are saddled, you will set off toward the forested river valley of the Assif n’ Ait Mizane for a half hour’s gallop into the silence of one of the world’s least spoiled mountain ranges. For the next couple of hours, you will climb along well-trodden mule trails up to the mountain pass of the Tizi n’Techt (2187m), which offers one of the finest panoramas in the High Atlas region. The route then follows a path in the lower valley and vista after vista of beautiful scenery. As you arrive in the village of Id Aissa, you will dismount and take some time out for a picnic among the local Berber people. Once refreshed and the mounts watered, it is time to set off back towards higher ground and the jagged, monstrous peaks of Jbels Oukaimeden, Aguelzim and Toubkal, before dropping back down through woodland of Juniper, Walnut and Citron-wood to the Plateau of Matate (1700m). A short visit of the copper mines is followed by an exhilarating 25 minute gallop to the village of Aguersioual. At this point it is time to say goodbye to your equine companion as you will be collected by vehicle and taken back to Marrakech via the Kasbah Tamadot.
