Situated next to the Cathedral, the chapel includes a mausoleum containing King Ferdinand, Queen Isabel and their children, Phillip ‘The Beautiful’ and Joan ‘The Mad’. From here, your tour continues along Grand Via taking you past the Gardens of Triunfo and the Royal Hospital which dates from 1504. Your destination is the Baroque masterpiece, the Carthusian Monastery. Its construction began in 1505 and took nearly three centuries to complete. Of particular importance are the Sanctum Sanctorum (Holy of Holies) and the Sacristy.
From here, the tour heads to the Old Moorish Quarter of Albaycin, where you will find steep and narrow winding streets enclosed by medieval houses, mosques and baths. Climb to the top of the Mirador De San Nicholas, for wonderful views of the Alhambra, Granada and Sierra Nevada. The tour finishes with a visit to the Sacromonte. This ancient quarter contains a number of cave dwellings used by the gypsy population. Visit one of the most representative caves, where a drink will be served.
