Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and the second largest city after Shanghai. The city is full of history and culture and this is why Do Something Different has decided to split the history tour in two. Tour I begins at the Tiananmen Square where you will visit the Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and the Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the people’s heroes.
From here you will head to the Imperial Palace Museum, formally known as the Forbidden City. Here you will witness every era of history represented throughout the lavish halls. This destination is visited in many of our Beijing tours but none in as much detail as Beijing History I.
The final stop on this trip will be the Temple of Heaven China’s largest temple and altar development. The architectural design is heavily influenced by religion and is an exquisite view. You will then be able to try some traditional Chinese tea before this tour comes to an end. You will also be provided with a succulent lunch during the day and there is the chance to shop at the Jiangan Silk Factory.
As this is the first part of the historic tour of Beijing, we do recommend that you take the Historic Beijing Tour II to complete your historical journey.
