Set off with your Moroccan mountain guide towards the east through fields of corn and flowers to follow the rivers course up and down small hills dotted with juniper, passing by isolated Berber hamlets to the salt mines at Marigha.  The Berber peoples have been mining salt by a traditional method unchanged for centuries and it may be possible to see them riding from village to village selling their produce from the backs of Donkeys.  From here, enter the immense Tassa Ouirgane Valley through fields and orchards of apple, peach, cherry and apricot adjacent to the vast forest of Takherkhoute to reach a picnic spot at the village of Tassa.   

Once refreshed, the tour continues past a tremendous panoramic vista which reveals the entire valley with the distant Toubkal Massif looming in the background.  The peaceful afternoon hike takes you through woodland towards the river, as you cross onto the other side of the valley and pass juniper and fir trees, orchards of peach, plum and pomegranate and vineyards on the journey back to Ouirgane. 

Essentially this walk will take you up and down a maximum of 600 metres and is not at all strenuous.  It offers a chance to discover hidden charming valleys and to meet the mountain Berber families in their own environment.

Although hiking does involve some effort, this tour is generally easy-grade walking. The route follows paths that are sometimes rocky. 

Please note that from October to April it is snowing in the mountains and Morocco can be very cold; please ensure that you have suitable clothing and equipment.
