Head South from Marrakech for an exciting 1.5 hour drive through one of Morocco’s longest and most beautiful areas – the Ourika Valley – teeming with vegetation, palmeraies and Berber Hamlets. The vehicle is left at the Berber hamlet of Tamzenddirt and your guide will lead you across the river and up along a narrow winding hillside path surrounded by fields of corn towards the village of Anins providing a panoramic view of the stark, looming Mountains and verdant valleys dotted with hamlets, villages and their irrigated fields; a wonderful snapshot of life seemingly a million miles away from the UK. From here, amble down to the Aghbalou Cascade (1148m) for picnic at the delightful waterfall; an opportunity perhaps, in season, to get refreshingly wet? The stop also allows for time to visit the Berber women in their simple homes weaving colourful, intricately-designed carpets. The gentle afternoon hike follows a path to the riverside hamlet of Setti Fadma with its groves of ancient walnut trees where you will rejoin your vehicle for the return to Marrakech.
