Hong Kong and the surrounding area are full of contrasts and the biggest contrast of all is that between ancient and modern.  Amazingly antique areas, monuments and traditions survive in the midst of up-to-the-minute buildings and state-of-the-art technology.  This tour takes you back in time and highlights the heritage of Hong Kong.   

You discover the roots of ancient beliefs when you visit the Man Mo Temple dedicated to the gods of Man (literature) and Mo (martial arts).  You witness a beautiful tradition that stems from the enchanting Lam Tsue Wishing Tree, where wishes are written on red paper, tied onto an orange and tossed into the air. According to legend, wishes caught in the tree will come true. 

Step back into the mid-1800s as you enter Tai Fu Tai, the opulent residence built by a scholar in 1865 who was given the title of Tai Fu (Mandarin) by the Qing emperor.  Lavish plaster mouldings and auspicious Chinese wood carvings adorn its regal interior. 

A photo stop will be made at the Lo Wai Walled Village, the first walled village built by the Tang clan. Nearby, lovers of fine architecture can find similar exquisite décor inside the Tang Chung Ling Ancestral Hall, built in honour of the Tang clan's founding ancestor.
