Imagine waking up in the ‘Bay of Descending Dragons’ surrounded by limestone peaks, hidden beaches and floating fishing villages. This memorable overnight tour aboard a traditional junk gives you time to explore, relax and marvel at one of Vietnam’s most beautiful natural wonders.

This two-day itinerary gives the chance to enjoy the bay from the luxury of a traditional  junk. You will get to live the authentic experience staying onboard the “Jewel of the Bay” while comfortably navigating along the staggering coastline and marvelling at its raw beauty. Discover the exotic vegetation of thousands of islands, hidden grottoes and soak the mystical atmosphere while you relax on the top deck. There is also plenty of opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters and enjoy the best cuisine available in the bay. All the while you will be looked after by our dedicated and attentive crew.

Day 1: Hanoi-Ha Long Bay
Enjoy a 3-hour scenic drive passing rice paddies and lush vegetation as you head to Halong Bay, stopping en route for a visit to the Sao Dao Arts & Crafts Centre run for and by handicapped children. Upon arrival at Halong Bay you will be welcomed by the friendly crew of the Jewel of the Bay, your luxury home for the next 2 days. Enjoy a delicious lunch aboard as the boat starts its journey across the tranquil waters.

After lunch there will be plenty time to discover some of the islands with their colourful and centuries-old floating villages and their lively people. The luxury junk will take you in a mission to discover some of the hidden caves and grottoes along the coastlines, some of which are only accessible by boat. Soak up the sun on the top deck or cool off in the water or for the more adventurous, try your hand at kayaking. In the evening, you will be served locally produce delicacies while you enjoy 360 degrees of this idyllic site. For those that are interested there is the opportunity to do a spot of night fishing from the boat.

Day 2: Ha Long Bay- Hanoi
Rise up to the tranquil beauty of the bay and have a refreshing dip before breakfast is served. This morning you continue to move around the bay to find more secluded areas to either swim or kayak or simply to soak up the sun. The kayaks are lightweight and easy to use and all participants will be issued with water buoyancy vests. The junk will be near us at all times serving as a back up vessel for those that require it. At around midday we will return to the main harbor before transferring to our awaiting vehicle for a 3-hour journey back to Hanoi. You should be back in the capital at around 3pm.

Dress on board is casual. Don't forget to take your swimming costume. You will need money for drinks on board. Please note that credit card payments are not available on the boat.

The lavish Jewel of the Bay is akin to a floating hotel. Here are some of the junk’s facilities:
• 5 - 8 en-suite twin cabins with air-conditioning and en suite tiled bathroom
• Hot and cold running water and shower in each bathroom
• Dining room serving Vietnamese and continental fare. (Including complimentary welcome drinks and free tea and coffee throughout trip).
