Halong Bay, meaning “Bay of Descending Dragons” is one of Vietnam’s most spectacular natural wonders and one of four UNESCO World Heritage listed sites in the country. A land of legends, the beautiful scenery covers more than 1500 square miles and is dominated by thousands of limestone monolithic islands that rise from the emerald waters. These are believed to be jewels that were spat out by dragons that formed a protective wall to protect Vietnam from Chinese invaders. 

Departing Hanoi early in the morning, enjoy a 3-hour scenic drive encompassing the fertile lands and rice fields of the Red River Delta, a major agricultural area of Vietnam. Once you arrive in Halong Bay you will board your private cruise boat for a five hour ride that will uncover the mysteries of this legendary bay.  As your boat navigates pass the thousand limestone peaks, your informative guide will explain the local legends that will leave you mesmerised by the crystalline emerald waters, the exotic flowers blooming next to numerous sandy beaches and the islands capped with lush forest vegetation. Some of the islands are hollow with large caves and there is a chance to see some of these limestone caves as well as plenty of free time to stroll along the coastline, do some kayaking (additional cost, payable locally) or take a refreshing swimming in the crystal clear water.
