You will be collected from your hotel very early and taken to watch the sun rise over the majestic 10,000 ft Haleakala volcano. It is certainly a sight to behold as morning breaks dispensing a patchwork of light and shadow across the craters and lava trails of the national park. The American novelist Mark Twain was moved to write that his 1866 visit to this dormant volcano was "...the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed" and that "...the memory of it will remain with me always"; he won’t be alone in that.
In addition to this stunning experience, you will also have the chance to visit the flower gardens of 'upcountry Maui' and the rare silversword plants, which are one of the few plants that manage to survive in this extreme and harsh environment.
