Overview
The Grand Palace complex is unquestionably a ‘must see’ for all visitors to Bangkok. A mixture of traditional Thai architecture with European influences, the Grand Palace was once the official home of the King of Siam and the regal flavour is still evident in the state rooms and grounds. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit the Royal Funerary Hall and the Royal Coronation Hall. However, the undoubted highlight of the Grand Palace complex is Wat Phra Keow or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. A wonderful collection of pagodas, stupas, frescos and mosaics under arching roofs of red and gold, the temple houses a 45 centimetre Emerald Buddha. Carved from a single piece of Jade, the Buddha is one of the holiest and most revered religious objects in modern day Thailand.
