Overview

Discover the colonial history of Singapore that has helped to shape today’s modern and vibrant society. Your day starts with a visit to the site where it all began. Raffles Landing Site marks the spot where Sir Stamford Raffles is believed to have first set foot in Singapore in 1819. From here, you continue to an exhibition which traces the history of the Singapore River. Next on the itinerary is the world-famous Raffles Hotel. A hive of activity for the high society and well-to-do in the 1800s, the hotel is best known for the Singapore Sling cocktail. Enjoy a traditional English afternoon tea buffet in this historic setting.

Afterwards, board a bumboat for a relaxing cruise along the Singapore River enjoying views of the towering skyline of the modern business district. These robust vessels were once used to shuttle cargo, but today provide excellent transport for shuttling tourists! Step off at Clarke Quay, a riverside festival village. Here you will visit a Pewter Gallery to discover the history of the pewter and role of tin in the development of the Singaporean economy and the establishment of Singapore as a trading port.
