Overview
Elephants have always been an important part of Thai culture. Today, they are mainly used as powerful beasts of burden, but in earlier times these giant animals were an integral part of the Royal Army and played an important role in Thai History. This charming tour takes you to the Mae Sa Elephant Camp, situated in lush tropical jungle. The centre’s philosophy is to create a natural and healthy environment for the elephants and here you will have the chance to watch these amazing creatures take their daily bath and then witness the traditional training techniques still used today. Wonder at the grace and precision of such gigantic creatures in action. There is the optional chance to enjoy a short elephant ride (fee payable locally) before continuing to view the beautiful Mae Sa Waterfall. The tour finishes with a visit to one of the region’s orchid farms and visit to the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden which is dedicated to the preservation of over 700 species of Thai plants.
