Your day starts with a scenic journey through the beautiful Normandy countryside to the the D-Day Landing Beaches. As you drive through this picturesque area it is difficult to imagine tens of thousands of soldiers waging war, but your informative guide will help you relive those dark days with broad overviews and fascinating stories. 

The first stop is at the American Cemetery. Technically the cemetery remains United States territory and is the final resting place for almost 10,000 fallen US soldiers. The grounds are beautifully kept and offer a stunning view over Omaha Beach and the English Channel. Continue down to Omaha Beach, often referred to as ‘Bloody Omaha'. The beach extends to the east and west below the American Cemetery and was one of the major landing points for the D-Day offensive. The intense fighting for control of the beach claimed thousands of lives and tens of thousands of casualties as depicted in the award-winning film, Saving Private Ryan. Visit Pointe du Hoc, a small peninsula where two long-range guns fired on both Omaha and Utah beaches inflicting terrible casualties on the Allies. Hundreds of shells and bombs were dropped on the area to disable the guns and the peninsula is now littered with huge craters and hollows. Visit to the Omaha Beach Memorial Museum where you can get a very real understanding of the D-Day landings through the photos, videos and exhibits on display before finishing your day with a visit to the Canadian Memorial of Juno beach.
