Your day starts with an early morning pick-up and flight from Reina Sofia Airport in the South of Tenerife. The flight lasts around 45 minutes and once in Lanzarote head off towards the village of Yaiza for breakfast. The village is renowned as the most beautiful on the island with its traditional white painted houses, and Central Square bordered by geraniums, palms, bougainvillea and agaves. The route takes past the whitewashed villages of Macher and Uga which contrast against the volcanic scenery. Enjoy the panoramic view of Las Salinas del Janubio, the only still operating commercial salt works on the island before heading Montañas de Fuego. The landscape here is so devoid of plants that it could be the moon. Enjoy a camel ride across the barren landscape before continuing to Timanfaya National Park, where you can see some demonstrations of geothermic experiments at the summit of Islote de Hilario. See just how close the molten lava is to the surface, as it sets fire to brush, explodes in geysers of steam and roasts chicken over a hole in the ground. Travel along the ‘Route of the Volcanoes’ enjoy the amazing rocky scenery created by millions of years of volcanic activity.

The tour pauses in Yaiza for lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to Teguise, the island’s historic capital. The route takes you through the vineyard area of La Geria. Afterwards, you head to Haría for spectacular views of the Valley of the Thousand Palm Trees. This green landscape is a stunning contrast to the southern lunar landscapes of Lanzarote and a reminder that the island is only 100km from Africa. The tour culminates in a visit to Los Jameos Del Agua, a natural wonder comprising caverns and partially collapsed lava tubes.
