As you journey through this spectacular mountain region you will find clusters of small white villages with flat earthen roofs (terrados) and terraced farmlands. Continually fed by the melting snow from peaks above, the stunning terraces are like a high-altitude oasis of greenery which dramatically contrasts with the arid foothills below.  

Visit the spa town of Lanjaron, famous for its healing waters and Orgiva the central town of this mountainous region. You will also pass through many other picturesque whitewashed villages including Portugos with its Fuente Agria or bitter spring water and Trevelez, the highest village in Spain. Enjoy a typical Alpujarreno lunch in Capileira, above the marvellous Ravine of Poqueira before returning back down the mountains to Grenada.
